Elderberry – Korsor

$18.99

One of the best fruiting varieties, Korsor European Elderberry also makes a fine ornamental shrub. Korsor grows to about 8 ft. in height and produces abundant crops of large, dark blue, flavorful and juicy berries.

Note that this is a selection of European Elderberry, not American Elderberry, which is native to Ontario. Like it’s North American cousin, European elderberry has large clusters of fragrant, white flowers that appear in spring which are followed by clusters of large, dark, purple to black berries in late summer to fall. Fruit can be harvested for making elderberry wine and jam, or left on the plant to provide seasonal forage for wildlife. Grow it as a shrub, or cut it back each year and use it as a bold perennial. Elderberries especially love ‘wet-feet’, and can produce fruit in shady condition. Elderberry Syrup is a much-used herbal anti-viral. European Elderberries are said to have more potent smell/flavour in their flowers, when dried and used for tea.
